Legal self-image

I see myself as a comprehensive consultant and contact person for my clients. This means, on the one hand, that in the consulting process I always try not only to include all legal factors and consider them, but also to always keep an eye on the associated economic and, if necessary, personal factors. On the other hand, this means that I always take into account the effects on related areas of law such as labour and tax law as well as corporate law and, especially when it comes to securing the future, I can also propose family and inheritance law instruments for structuring purposes.

This is me for you

A passionate lawyer for my clients. With fighting spirit, professional competence and personal commitment. For your economic and personal interests.

From my office in Reinbek, just outside Hamburg, I advise clients throughout northern Germany. Of course I also offer appointments for meetings at your company if required. At offices in Hamburg, Hanover, Kiel and Lüneburg, I have access to meeting rooms through my network where you can meet me.

I offer you legal advice and representation in numerous areas of commercial law. My main focus is insolvency law. In this field I am also entitled to hold the title of a specialist lawyer for insolvency law (Fachanwalt für Insolvenzrecht). The prerequisite for this is the successful completion of a large number of mandates from all areas of insolvency law over several years. In addition, I have attended seminars over a period of several months and passed an examination.

An additional focus of my law firm is labour law. In this field I represent both employers and employees. In this area, too, I have several years of experience in counseling and litigation. Questions of labour law occur more frequently, especially in connection with economic difficulties of companies.

A further focus of my work lies in the area of public procurement law. Here I represent both private sector bidders and the administration in the context of planning, tendering and application. In addition, I represent clients in the context of reprimand proceedings before the Public Procurement Chamber.

Another focus of my work, especially since passing my notary examination, is contract law. This includes contract drafting as well as representation in disputes about the content of contracts. Particularly worth mentioning are the areas of partnership agreements for e.g. limited liability companies (GmbH) and private corporations (GbR), marriage and civil partnership agreements as well as wills and inheritance contracts. Furthermore, I advise you on the drafting of service contracts, employment contracts, real estate purchase contracts and general terms and conditions for businesses(AGB).

Professional career

Since 1 September 2018 I have been working as a lawyer in my own law firm.

From 2014 to 2018 I built up and managed the department for insolvency law advice at the law firm SBL Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH.

Before joining SBL, I worked as an in-house lawyer for an energy supply company in Hanover and gained experience in contract drafting and in the company-relevant areas of labour and corporate law as well as tax law. At the same time, I advised clients in commercial and insolvency law and quickly realised that this part of my work as a lawyer gives me the most satisfaction: Working closely and in a spirit of trust with my clients to overcome crises and challenges together.

In my first four years as a lawyer since my admission to the bar in 2009, I have been responsible for handling and conducting proceedings for insolvency administrators: The first station was the insolvency department of a major German law firm with over 100 lawyers, the second station was working for a supra-regional law firm specializing in insolvency law.

During these years, I have gained deep practical insights into the thinking and working methods of insolvency administrators and other parties involved in the proceedings such as creditors, affected parties, investigating authorities and insolvency courts. In addition, I have completed the specialist lawyer course in insolvency law and passed the specialist lawyer examination. With increasing professional experience I came to the realisation that I see my professional activity in insolvency law primarily on the side of a consultant, because this is the more varied and for me legally and humanly more interesting work. This experience enables me to develop and implement an optimal strategy for my clients that has been proven in practice.

Studies and training

I studied law in Frankfurt/Oder, Strasbourg and Kiel. After the first state examination I completed my legal clerkship in Hamburg and Frankfurt/Main and passed the second state examination. Between my studies and my legal clerkship I worked for one year as a research assistant in the field of press and public relations at the State Chancellery of Schleswig-Holstein. In addition to the legal clerkship, I completed a postgraduate master’s degree in business law with the academic degree Master of Laws (LL.M.).

Between my A-levels in Lüneburg and my studies I did my military service with the tank reconnaissance force.

In my free time I like sailing, hunting, reading or visiting the theatre. But most of my free time I spend with my wife and my three daughters.
